Hey guys(to P6s'15), it's been a while since I posted and I know that you guys have just received your PSLE results not long ago!
If your score is around or better than your expectations, then CONgratS!!! But, if your score is not what you expected or you are disappointed at your tee-score, do not feel discouraged-it's over, you can't do anything to change it.
The point is if you had tried your best, put in all your hard work into studying for the PSLE, then you have already done a good job! :) [btw, just for encouragement, PSLE results are not the end of studying journey. You have a longer way to go and excel :-) ]
Now, many of you are thinking, contemplating which school to get into. Do look through the PSLE booklet for schools that shows the tee-score and details of each and every secondary schools in Singapore. With that, you will have a better idea of which school is more appropriate for you.
Actually, the Math in Secondary 1 could be easier for some of you. The methods used to solve the problems are not that complicated. HAHa. (mostly Algebra)

Start to buck up and Study!
Hey guys...
It's term 1 to 2015 and how are you guys doing? Are you able to cope well with your studies?
CCA? Tuition ? Enrichment?etc etc......
The first quarter of the year is already coming to an end and soon you will be sitting for you PSLE near the third to fourth quarter of this year. Soon, please help yourself to summarise and revise everything that you had been learning in this term and do many practice papers on Math and obviously also other subjects during the March Holidays. Try to keep yourself occupied with these 4 subjects and do not rest on your laurels as I had said earlier on.
Sadly, there seem to be no one posting their questions on my blog and I can't possibly answer them . So if you are reading this post of mine , please post the difficult questions that you face on my blog in the comments. And as soon as I see them , I will try my best to answer. No harm for you guys so yea....

How is school lately?
Dear P6s of 2015... It is already the end of Week 4 of the New Term ? Are homework piling in ? Are you starting to feel stressed out and already start complaining about the amount of homework you are facing everyday ? Do you have complaints like I do not have any free time now! Why is there so much homework? Can't the teachers give us a break?
If you have those , don't worry! I do that too and I suppose most people do that when it comes to the critical year- P6... The best is to list down your homework for the day on a paper, and tick it when it's done... You should do your homework systematically. If that certain piece of homework is very challenging , you many choose to do others before coming back to that difficult piece of work... With that, you had actually already completed others which is really good! :)
Do not procrastinate in doing those homework...thinking that PSLE is still months away... Revise the topics that you have learnt now and so it will be a breeze when you revise them later near the PSLE date...

A new year-2015
It's been a while since I started blogging... Already 3 days into the new year ... Sorry for the late greetings! But wishing you a Happy New Year! I wish each and everyone of you good health and above-happiness for the year ahead of us . I hope this year would be a better and more pleasant one for everyone...
STAY CHEERFUL AND HAPPY!
This year is the PSLE year for the P6s... To you , it may seem as if it's only the start of the year and you will not need to start preparing ... As I had undergone the PSLE and went through that whole year, I feel that I should had start preparing since the start of school . I only felt the anxiety when PSLE was just two months away ... Like in July. In July, I started to panic, feeling very anxious. I have not studied the Math strategies, the compositions method , oral practices and many stuff... Since then, everyday , I studied strategically. Maybe like everyday one topic on each subject or component. I gave myself rest time too . (Every 1h of studying , I will go out for a breather for like maybe 10-15mins ) It will not be as good to stuff so many things in your mind during that 2 months or so. Hence, my advice to all P6s this year - Please start revising regularly now. Especially the chapters and topics you have learnt in P4 and 5.
Do not procrastinate and also if you can make timetables for yourself and include suitable rest times. Do not store everything in your brain just thinking that that will help you. Instead, these method will make you back-fire. You will instead miss out the points that you tried to memorise. Remember notes by using your background knowledge of that subject and not memorise it without actually knowing it.
OK?

Strategies to solve a sum(2)
Use before and after concept
Compare the situation before and after the problem is solved. Sometimes the differences(or a specific difference can shed light on the cause and lead to a possible solution.
Use guess and check
Make an educated guess of the answer and check to see if it is correct. Use the knowledge gained from testing an incorrect guess to improve the next guess. It is important to avoid making wild guesses. Track the guesses made and look for patterns to improve the next guess.
Make suppositions
Study the data given and make suppositions(assumptions without proof) about some aspects of the problem to form the basis for further thinking. This reduces the number of possibilities and makes it easier to explore the problem further.
Restate the problem in another way
Read the problem carefully and restate it in the child's own words. This helps the child understand the problem and identify important factors of the problem.
Simplify the problem
Make a difficult problem simpler. This can be done by changing complex numbers to simple numbers or by reducing the number of things in the problem. The solution he the simplified problem may help the child solve the original problem.
Solve part of the problem
Split a complex problem into smaller parts and solve the simpler part first

Relaxation time
Wow... I guess most of you are looking forward to the upcoming long holidays! Time passes by sooooo fast and now is already the last quarter of the year. It's time to go on a stay-cation or a holiday at other countries or just relax at home- watch tv, eat snacks, read books, do exercises, and etc...
It is good and important to relax. Relaxing helps to unwind and rejuvenate yourself after accomplishing much things in this tough and difficult year-2014. Different things happened to different people. There would be ups and downs whereby these things much affect your feelings positively and negatively respectively. This is LIFE! Meeting obstacles is so frequent that sometimes you may be thinking : Why am I so useless? Can I just give up? Oh my gosh!!! What is happening to me! Wash away these negative thoughts and just focus on 'forwarding'.
When is time for you to relax, please do it properly. Do not make the worries in your mind disturb you during this pleasant time. Close your eyes and forget about all the anxieties!!!
Many of us, I guess MOST of us worry much about our exam results. For instance, especially when you feel stressed or pressurized by somebody or something. Perhaps, you need to meet a certain standard if not you will not get a reward of whatever. No matter the results , so long as you know you had studied hard and tried your best, DO NOT WORRY!!! Exams are just minor challenges you face in your entire life. So, not to worry. Nevertheless, STUDY HARD AND not to rest on your laurels as I had mentioned before.
Bye!
